Richard L. Landry
CEO Richard L. Landry is the founder and CEO of Conquest Systems, Inc. He led the company’s growth to an Inc. 500 company in 2001 with employees in Washington, DC, Georgia and California. Under Mr. Landry’s leadership, the company earned a reputation for providing timely, innovative, high-quality solutions. The company’s client list included the United States Postal Service, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Federal Aviation Administration, other city and federal agencies, and private businesses. In 2006, Mr. Landry divested the Government Consulting Group division of Conquest to focus the organization on aggregating and reporting statistical data. Today, the flagship product, Statistical Datasets, is the largest collection of organized statistical data and is used by many of the world’s leading research universities, as well as corporate and government research organizations. Prior to founding Conquest Systems, Inc., Mr. Landry was a project manager and team leader focused on implementing Executive Information Systems for RHO Enterprises. Mr. Landry holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Valparaiso University. He is active in alumni, community, and church organizations.
Director, Product Development Steven Braland serves as Technical Director for all of Conquest Systems, Inc. products, as well as internal research and development. Responsibilities include product strategy, direction, and focus. Additionally, Mr. Braland works with other managers as a stakeholder in all product development efforts. Mr. Braland also provides architectural and technical support, aids in business development, and supports Conquest Systems Partner, VAR, and affiliate programs. Mr. Braland joined Conquest Systems, Inc. in January of 1998 as Project Manager for the WebEIS contract at United States Postal Service. Mr. Braland has an extensive background that includes over 20 years of highly sophisticated systems integration, custom software, product, and systems development, and program/project management experience with federal and commercial clients. Mr. Braland holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Maryland.
Senior Software Developer Kari Hemdal has been a software developer for Conquest Systems since 1996, and is responsible for the company’s software products, including Statistical Datasets. Mr. Hemdal holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science from Helsinki University of Technology.
Editorial Consultant Jill Blaemers is an information industry veteran, with 25+ years of experience building electronic resources used to support teaching and learning in higher education. Formerly Managing Editor of the CSA social sciences databases, Jill in more recent years held product management responsibility for the social science portfolio of CSA and also ProQuest. Jill holds a BA in Anthropology from San Diego State University and an MLIS from San Jose State University. She is working with Conquest Systems in the ongoing development of the metadata structure, classification scheme, and controlled vocabulary that organize and enhance access to the Data-Planet repository.
